Are you ready to step into the spotlight? The Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles’ Girl Scouts Exploring Media
(GEM) program is back for the 2026–2027 year—and we’re looking for bold, creative Cadettes, Seniors, and
Ambassador Girl Scouts who are ready to shine!

From attending high-profile events to starring in Girl Scout marketing campaigns, appearing in TV interviews on the news, writing blog posts for our website, and representing GSGLA and GSUSA at events—you’ll gain real-world
media experience and become a voice for Girl Scouts across our council.

Each quarter you will dive into topics like public relations and journalism, how to make your own brand, storytelling, digital media, and so much more. Come away with confidence in public speaking, career development, and get 1-1 advice and tutorials from industry experts.

Please review the program outline below before completing your application to ensure you can meet this program’s expectations.

Application Process:

Application Launch – July 1, 2026
Application Deadline – July 31, 2026
Application Status Notification – by August 7, 2026
Virtual Interviews – Mid-to-late August 2026. More details for specific timing to come with application status notifications if applicable.
GEM acceptance notifications – by September 15, 2026

GEM Tentative Quarterly Meeting Schedule

Fall Meeting: October 2026
Winter Meeting: December 2026
Spring Meeting: March 2027
Summer Meeting: June 2027

Beginning with the 2026–2027 term, GEM will include a $100 program fee to support the cost of our quarterly meetings and programming. Applying is completely free, and there is no cost unless you are selected and confirm your participation.

If selected, you will receive additional details about payment at that time. The fee will be due prior to the first
meeting. We want GEM to be accessible to every Girl Scout who earns a place in this program. Financial
assistance is available for those who need it.
